Buck Fuffalo is a Texas-based Americana and Red Dirt country artist hailing from Stephenville. Known for his gritty songwriting, offbeat humor, and heartfelt storytelling, he’s carved out a loyal following in the Texas music scene. His music blends elements of folk, rock, and outlaw country, often infused with a satirical edge and raw emotion.
Where are you from?
Stephenville, TX / Bluff Dale, TX
What is your backstory?
I used to just make up funny songs on the spot at after parties in college at Tarleton State. Tried standup comedy in Austin with some of those but eventually found more joy in entertainment with my songwriting and performing.
What's the newest release people should check out?
Newest single “Nashville” just came out last Friday I’ll have another single May 16 “Back in the 90’s” the rest of the album “Late Bloomer” June 13th! Presave on my socials.
Who are your biggest influences?
Feel like that varies depending on what I feel in when I think of hook or melody. Brent Cobb and Sturgil as far as current influences. Old school would be John Prine Roger Miller but I grew up on sound of Skynard and Waylon and love 90’s grunge so that comes out sometimes too.
What's a hidden gem song from your catalog that people often miss?
Probably Arizona from my first album an ex girlfriend had kept a voicemail so I tagged it on the intro. Also Underdog from my life album we recorded at Larry Joe Taylor’s Melody Mountain.
Favorite lyric you've written?
Wow that’s really tough...maybe “there’s been many wagons, I have fallen off, and I probably might again. But your mamma said keep treating people right, already almost got in..” from “I Saw Your Mama There” pinned on my Instagram @buckfuffalo
Dream collaboration?
Would love to do a song with Colter Wall or Robert Earl Keen but also think it would be super cool to work with Backseat Lovers or Rainbow Kitten Surprise.
Best live show moment or memory so far?
I host a foster home benefit every Christmas so the last peak was singing Limp Bizkit “Break Stuff” with Canaan Bryce. But it’s hard to top hearing Charley Crockett call me out or when Ray Wylie Hubbard put my name sang Buck Fuffalo during his “Screw You were from Texas” doesn’t seem real.
What's next for you?
Ready to get all this new music out and back into the studio. I’ve already got an albums worth of songs I’ve been playing that I know work. I’d like to do a small theatre show more intimate acoustic style and tell stories almost like a standup Netflix style even if it just goes on YouTube I think would be really cool.
Any Shoutouts?
This new album “Late Bloomer” in the studio I had a super group playing on and producing with Mason Morris and Josh Serrato who are in Koe Wetzel’s band, Steven Marcus with William Clark Green, Ryan Olgin on drums and Rio Tripiano form Copper Chief. Just so fortunate that they believed in making these songs the absolute best.
Anything else you want to say?
Follow me Spotify or Apple so you know when all these songs are coming and then share the hell out of the music you love put in playlists and share it, then come tour shows. It’s only a dream y’all the ones that make it come true.
